Tooth Extractions – Simple and Surgical

oral-surgery-2A dental extraction is the removal of a tooth from the mouth when the tooth decay has destroyed enough tooth structure to render the tooth non-restorable or due to trauma or fracture. Teeth are also extracted if they are impacted or for orthodontic treatment to create enough room in the arch for teeth alignment.

Extractions can be simple if the teeth are visible and erupted in the mouth and involve use of a few instruments, and is a painless, fast process with little or no bone removal.  You may or may not need sutures, antibiotics or strong pain medication.

Surgical extractions can be done under local anesthesia like the simple extractions, may take a few mins longer, is completely painless in our office, may require an incision in the gum or splitting of the tooth for a tooth broken under the gumline, fractured or impacted.  Some Bleeding isn’t uncommon but patients heal pretty quickly and are able to mostly resume normal schedules the same day in a couple hours once numbness wears off.

The dentists at our office will take time and every care to make this a comfortable, painless experience for you and provide you with options of replacing the lost tooth and following up with care after the extractions.

You can request conscious sedation or nitrous during your extractions to make this experience more comfortable for you.
