Veneers & Laminates

veneersIn just a couple dental visits, a veneer can reverse years of stains caused by foods, caffeine and tobacco use.  Special thin pieces of laminates or porcelain, called veneers, which are custom made ,custom fitted can often be used to correct minor tooth imperfections such as  discolored, crooked, worn down, cracked and chipped teeth or to close unsightly gaps between teeth and to alter length or size of the teeth with minimal risk to your natural tooth structure .Veneers  are bonded to the natural teeth. Porcelain veneers have a longer life expectancy and color stability than bonding, and highly resist permanent staining. They can last a lifetime without staining. You cannot stain glazed porcelain with smoke or coffee. With porcelain veneers you will never need to whiten your teethVeneers can be a great alternative to braces for slight orthodontic problems and provide a beautiful smile in a short amount of time.

First, we  will do a complete examination of your teeth to determine if porcelain veneers are the right solution for you. The dentist will prepare your teeth, which requires removal of removing an extremely thin layer of the tooth to allow for the thickness of the veneer, shaping the teeth, and then taking an impression. We will also photograph your teeth to accurately record their color. You will spend approximately one or two hours with your cosmetic dentist at this appointment. The mold and photographs of your teeth are then sent to a laboratory where the porcelain veneers are fabricated by technicians who specialize in creating restorations that look and feel like natural teeth.

During the second visit, also about one or two hours, your dentist will place the new porcelain veneers on the tooth surface to check their fit and judge the accuracy of the shade or color. To apply the porcelain veneer, the tooth is cleansed with specific chemicals to achieve a bond, and finally bonding of the veneer to the tooth with dental cement used for veneers and is light cured. Veneers are permanent and non-reversible. At our office, your dentist will inform you if you are a good candidate for dental veneers. Proper home care and diet is essential for the longevity of the veneer.
